Al must have visions of being a traffic police cop just like the 1980's
American TV show C.H.I.P.S., as he sorted a grid lock situation which was causing the AA Bat Mobiles to be held up for half an hour and with French radio only having 3songs it was driving the dyamic duo crazy.
Andy's love affair with Mistress Garmin is continuing to grow, although
every now and again they have the odd tiff when it decides to take them
walkabout!
The AA team went to meet the Aces in the Little Switzerland area of Luxembourg,
where they passed one of the most fairytale looking villages in the world,
with a Hogwarts style castle, and windy, cobbled, pub-lined streets.
Lunchtime on the Belgian border, and the AA Team stopped to meet the Laggards for
a very Belgian lunch of Kebabs and Chips, after which we walked to the
border signs to take pictures of the Bluebell Bear. Dave was oblivious
as to what lied ahead of him in the undergrowth. Put it this way, one
more step and he would have had a very nice new dead Deer shaped shoe!
We concocted a story that the deer must have been trying to escape from
Luxembourg and it couldn't cross the border as it didn't have a Deer
Passport, so the best option was to jump into oncoming traffic, rather than
return to that miserable place.
Gordon did a very amusing Paula Radcliffe impersonation in the Woods at the side of the N30
this afternoon - Dave has photographic evidence!! Both Sam and Andy came a cropper today,
with both taking tumbles and comparing war wounds at the end of the day.
Our arrival into Liege could have been a disaster, with the van barely
being able to fit into the underground car park. After being refused entry,
we did a 29 point turn and headed out of there. We were wondering how
on earth we were going to find the other teams, but we bumped into them
both on the surrounding streets as we drove around looking for parking. A short while
later, we were blocking one of Liege's main bus stops to load the bikes
before stashing the vehilces onto a dodgy looking piece of waste land
around the corner.
Later on, we all managed to have a small taste of the Liege nightlife.
After noticing some very strange dance moves from Chongy, the AA team thought
that it was the right time to round everybody up and send them to bed,
because this is a serious bikeride and we cannot afford to have fun when
we should be resting our finely tuned bodies for the next day's endeavours (!)
On reflection, the nightlife was pretty good, and we have already booked
a flight out here for a return visit as soon as possible.
